Sometimes the beauty of my surroundings take me off guard. Salt Lake City is at its finest right now...the grass is green, the sunsets are spectacular and the flowers are in full bloom. Spring is by far my favorite season. One of my favorite things to do with my friends at night time is go watch the sunset. If we are in a hurry, we stop at the closest parking garage (P5 on Parley's Way), or if we've got some time on our hands, we go to places like the H Rock or Pete's Rock (both common look-outs over Salt Lake). Everything about sunsets makes the happy, especially the collage of color in the sky and the light it casts on everything in the city.
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
Even though it's not Mother's Day quite yet, I just wanted to write a quick post about how much I love my cute mama. She is the classiest, foxiest, most sophisticated woman that I know. After our countless midnight conversations filled with advice, confessions and gossip, it was only natural that she'd go on to become a therapist. Through her work, she is able to influence people everyday with her compassion and love. My mom is a beacon of strength, and through her strength alone, I know that I can get through anything. On top of all that, she is the most beautiful 40-something woman that I know. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother."
Well kids, May has come. My freshman year is officially finished, and what a whirlwind it has been. There were so many firsts up here in Logan.
My first time living alone
My first time having to actually study for a class
My first time being sick, without a mom to baby me
My first real meal cooked by myself
My first time experiencing germy hot springs
My first sad break up
My first time having to worry about which groceries to buy
My first bad grade
My first time having a (somewhat) clean room
My first time having to depend fully on my alarm and not have a cute dad as a back-up
My first time feeling homesick
My first time shooting a gun
My first pet fish
Gawl. Isn't the word "first" starting to sound funny??
I have met some incredible people this year. I always try to live my life with an attitude of gratitude, but up here it has not been difficult because there really is so much to be grateful for. Because I lived with six other girls, whenever I was lonely or feeling homesick, all I had to do was go into our family room and there would be at least one girl out there to giggle with. I know words are tiring to read on a blog, so I will get to the pictures...but just know that my first year of college was wonderful, and definitely a year to remember.
